My paintings can be described as a dialogue between the medium and the artist. I allow paint to follow its own path and harness its movements to create my compositions. This process involves pouring and dripping very fluid acrylic paint, which gains depth through the use of intuitive layering. These chance operations are contrasted by moments when I add levels of symbols executed in a more direct manner. I am interested in universal symbols that can work as abstractions. My paintings allow the spectator to have free associations about the orchestration of the patterns. Repetition gives my work a rhythmic quality and an oscillating pulse. |
